I am totally drawn to design. Simple, elegant, smooth, curvy.. I love things that appeal to the eye. Well Voss Artesian Water from Norway has done just that. My mom got me a bottle at a local coffee shop while I was in San Diego last weekend. I only have one bottle that I've been refilling with distilled water a few times a day. I did find it online at icaviar but Im still working up the nerve to spend 40 bucks on a 24 pack of bottled water (though they are glass bottles instead of the plastic one i have). You can tell its special because when was the last time you saw articles written about bottled water? I might be a sap for packaging, but man is that some beautiful water.
"Noney returns a standard to currency notes. But instead of metal, tobacco or rum, Noney's standard is the aesthetic value of the note itself. It's an economic system backed by art - art that also serves as the system's currency."
I think this Noney stuff sounds cool and fun to try to obtain. All you have to do is email the artist with an offer of some of your own 'cultural tender' and he'll make a trade. I got Cory to offer one of his paintings for some of Noney (all of which is hand drawn, hand printed and signed) If I think of something culturally I can offer I'm going to trade as well. Maybe I'll offer a poem, heh.
I just redesigned the Student Investment Club website because I couldn't take the old design any longer. It used tables, and comon' who uses tables besides for data anymore? Well I coded it in XHTML but for some reason once I uploaded it to the college website it wouldn't recognize that a style sheet existed in Firebird or Netscape. It took me awhile but I finally found what I believe is the culprit. UF doesn't have CSS identified as the correct MIME type (text/css) and while regular HTML seems to be somewhat lenient about this, XHTML doesn't. Whats that mean? Welp, I had to remove all the XHTML headers from every page and then it magically worked. Well of course that meant extra hacking to make the HTML look like the XHTML, but atleast its done. Maybe this is something I should email Mark Trammell about. (besides the annoyance of http://ufl.edu not working)
