My vpr Matrix 1800t laptop I bought from Best Buy Nov '02 has died. I swear I go through laptops like some people go through women. The fan was whizzing and whirring way louder than it should've for quite some time. I knew it was a heat issue so I even went out and bought a Targus Chill Pad, which works nicely I think, but not enough to save this sucker. It's not a huge deal, because, thankfully, we bought the super duper extended $250 warranty when we got it. This will be the third time I'll be sending it in for repairs, and you can bet your bandwidth I'll be making sure it breaks a fourth time to take advantage of BB's 'No Lemon Policy'. So with that said and done, and my laptop being out of commission for about a month while it gets fixed, I went and bought a new desktop.
No, no, hear me out. My theory as to why I've gone thru 2 laptops (and 6 repairs) is because I treat them too much like a desktop. I always leave it on, I'm always on it, taxing its processor with Photoshop, movies, and various other apps. Don't get me wrong, I love the portablity of a laptop. That is why I am going to use it for traveling only from now on. My new Hewlitt Packard Pavilion a530n will be my daily grind machine. It's AMD 3200+ 64 bit processor, 512mb ram, 200gb hdd, dvd+rw/cd-r components will help me keep on truckin' And of course a sweet, adjustable 17" LCD makes things more enjoyable as well. The whole package set me back about $1500 after rebates, and i didn't opt for the BB service plan because I'm hoping a desktop will have a bit more stability.
And what's even greater? I have 12 months no-interest financing. Play now, pay later. w00t.
ps. ahwww yeah. 365 is up to date, and with a new comp, I'm even more motivated to update on time.
pss. oh i forgot to tell you my desktop is named cooper. my laptop will be named mini. and my external hd is still hemi :)
