Mac Poser

I was at this cafe after dinner tonight with my family, and saw a lady sitting at a table by herself with a 12 inch iBook. Guess what her wallpaper was? I bet you couldn't guess in a million years so I'll just tell you.

It was the default Windows XP swooshy wallpaper (you know, the one titled 'Windows XP' in your control panel). I cracked up. All you ever hear about are Mac Evangelists preaching how they worship Steve Jobs. This chick had XP wallpaper on her mac! Maybe you had to be there, but I thought it was funny.

On a semi related note, I think I'm going to get a 12 inch iBook when I get back to the states (seriously). My laptop was on its 4th repair through BestBuy, which means I get a free replacement, and they carry Apples on their website. I figure since I now have a desktop as my main machine, I'm going for something ultra portable on the notebook front. I'm not a huge mac fan, but all I'd be using it for would be surfing the net (on the run) and testing websites.

On a similar note, I think I'm wearing my mom down on getting me an iPod as an early birthday gift. Blessed art me.

Any comments or experiences with either of these products, would gladly be appreciated.

ps. I miss 'merica.

I have both a 14inch iBook and 20gig 3rd gen iPod and love them both.

I've never used a Mac before, but I've heard great things about them. I don't think I'd have an XP wallpaper if I got a Mac, probably a pretty picture of bunnies.

Your site says there are 5 comments here, but I only see two before me! Odd...

You already know my thoughts on mac. So you're going with the iBook? Really? :(

Hi Taylor, stumbled upon your site through Google. Just wanted to comment that I got a 12 inch PowerBook a month ago (first experience with Mac) and it's one though toy. Hasn't crashed on me yet, the Terminal is great especially if you're a coder like myself, and it runs Macromedia very nicely. Oh yeah, iPod, man that's a money sink, must resist getting one, mmm.

Thanks for the wake up call, I'm going to pay a few more bucks and try to get any seat for Weenie Roast. I'm also going to add you to my link list if you don't mind.

That's definitely an odd sense of humor. As a proud owner of a 12" PB, I'd recommend it if you can afford it. Being able to have an extended desktop will come in handy for web browsing (iBooks can't span without being hacked).

Ok i see what your saying yes... But really is it that odd, or suprising?

I mean PC users spend hours on top of hours trying their hardest to get their theme to be as close to Mac OSX as possible, but then this is considered cool?... But when a Mac OSX User try's to use a PC Background, then this is considered lame...?

I like and dislike and love mac/pc for different reasons, but i'll always choose a mac over a pc. I love my iMac. I'm not in love or worship Steve Jobs or Bill Gates, and by owning a mac or a pc, i hope it doesnt suggest that, or even which backgroung im using.

I'm just saying i understand your comment, but think about it, why is this so odd for a mac user?
