So I've been moving over links from my bookmark page over to del.icio.us/gtmcknight but am starting to have second thoughts of using delicious as a bookmarks manager.

I don't need it as a linkdump (random links I find throughout the day) because I have linkpool for that. This was going to be more of a global bookmark replacement, but delicious fails to meet two of my bookmarking needs.

1. They are arranged by date, not alphabetical, and frankly, I could care less when I posted it, I just want to find it easily.
2. They are only displayed 10 at a time, and I like seeing my bookmarks in a long list so I can find what I need at a glance.

I do like having multiple tags assigned to links, and I do like seeing who else bookmarked it, but I think I'm going to stop importing any further until somebody can show me how to overcome these issues.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting the point of delicious. Oh well.

I use MyBookmarks.com to keep track of pages I view every day.. I like it because links can be arranged in any order you choose easily using drag-and-drop (you mentioned them being sorted by date on delicious), it can auto-sort the list (alphabetizing folders and links), it has an import/export feature, colors and fonts are customizable, and you can set it to be public so that others can enjoy your frequently visited sites.

I don't know exactly what you're looking for, but it's worth taking a look at if you're not completely satisfied with delicious. If you find something better than MyBookmarks.com, let me know so I can check it out.

Oh, and if you want to check out my own bookmarks, go here. :-)

Oh, I'm not really looking for any bookmark prog, I'm quite happy with my installation of Active Bookmarks, I was just tempted by all the cool things you can do with delicious lately. Thanks tho :)

Oh, okay.. lol. Would you recommend Active Bookmarks? Where can I find the program? And would you happen to have the hook-up for a full version of the program if it isn't available for free? :-)

The new del.icious interface allows one to display up to 100 bookmarks per page (still sorted by date, though).

Personally, I find the social/rss features of del.icio.us compelling enough to keep using it-- in fact they are by far the most interesting aspect-- but ymmv. I used to use powermarks which was also a flat, tag-based tool that could sync to an internet store. Interesting and fast... after a while I realized that for me, as the number got larger, alphabetizing and hierarchy were generally less useful than search...
