Mac? Maybe.

Today is the first day I have every seriously contemplated getting rid of my windows machine forever and only using OSX. Now, this won't happen anytime soon since I'm still paying off my desktop, but I had never even considered it before, so it's a big deal.

On that note, I am reformatting (again) this weekend. Yay.

ps. I want to teach my babies to use sign language like Eric Meyer did, someday.

I got a G5 imac a couple weeks ago and love it. I'd definetly recommend it. :)

Oh, I'm well acquainted with macs and OSX, I have a 12" powerbook and use a mac at work every day. The big deal is I never preferred one over the other. Still dont, but I thought the passing thought was worth writing down.

I've been using a Mac at work/school for the past four years and am so used to them it would suck to come home and use my PC...I was getting way too annoyed with the different shortcuts :) I don't really prefer one over the other either, I was just looking for a change!

I learned graphics (photoshop/quark) on a Mac back in 97-99 working for the student paper at USF. They machines we used froze alot then. When I started using PCs I felt like I could communicate with the rest of the world easier. Do Macs still read PC stuff, but not the other way around?

I've seen the new Macs and want to work with them just so I can mouseover those intro icons over and over and over...

If you're considering switching operating system, perhaps you might like to look into Linux? (www.linux.org) You can operate it on the desktop you have now. I'd really recommended it. ^_^ </plug>

I don't have much experience with Macs, but in my opinion, anything and everything else is better than Windows!!

Not that I have anything against Macs, but I believe the last time I used one functionally... was to draw shapes in Turtle was it? Man... that was a long time ago.

Personal prefs. aside, I think the main obstacle for anyone familiar with the mac os in stopping them from going 100% mac is availabilty of apps.. If there were as many mac compatable apps. out there as pc, we'd see a huge increase in apples market share.

Ruth, being a unix (read - linux) admin, I always give props for fighting the good fight, but moving a home dektop/network to pure 100% linux is not realistic for the average user. Linux is not desktop-user ready, and is still at least 10 years off without a fluid gui and increased app. support.
Personal prefs. back to the center, I've succesfully converted my fiance to wireless g4 powerbook addiction (with the help of Office for OS X), and we are one step away from replacing our old HP with a G5 imac (or maybe now mini). A pure mac home network gives me a woody.
