Jason Kottke, one of my fav bloggers has quit his job and will blog as a career. I am crazy jealous, and there is actually a very good chance I will end up donating towards his cause, if only for helping sustain my own dream to be in his shoes someday.

Hrmm. I personally aim my dreams a little higher than merely being in Kottke's shoes.
As cool as it sounds on the face of it, I personally wouldn't like to wager my sole means of income on my ability or motivation to blog. For me it would become "I blog because I need to gat paid" rather than "I blog when I feel like it dammit". As soon as your hobby becomes your job, it is no longer your hobby.
Then again, I suppose there is the saying "If you get a job doing what you love you never have to work a day in your life." I am not sure which is true. My brain hurts.
You are right Adam, I should strive for something better. I want to blog for TWICE as much as Kottke makes. Boy, I'll show him!
JB83: You will slowly drive me insane.
Adam just said it perfectly. I have tried to do the hobby as a job and it sucks. I think on paper it sounds like a good idea but he's going to have to compete with the millions of blogs out there and I wouldn't give money to a bum much less him. Just in case you're wondering, I wouldn't pay you a dime either, Tay.

'towards' is a British word. 'toward' is an American word.
