Ha, kinda dropped the ball on any kind of current SXSW blogging, I was WAY too busy having the best time I've had in a long long time. Here is more of my name droppin' list...The Business Logs Crew (Matthew Oliphant, Mike Rundle, Paul Scrivens), Chris Wetherell and Aaron Boodman of Google, Christopher Schmitt, Shaun Inman and his lovely fiancee Leslie, Andy Budd, Jeremy Keith, Kent Brewster and Ernie Hsiung and Min Jung Kim of Yahoo!, Tantek Celik, David Nunez (of smiley sticker fame), Elsa Kawai, Cindy, Kevin Cheng, Andrei Herasimchuk, Angel Schneider, Simon Willison, Steve Chipman, Joe Clark, Porter, Kimberly Blessing, and the infamous John d'Addario.
I had meaningful long conversations with atleast half of those. I expected to learn a ton from panels, but I really found the intimate face to face conversations while inebriated were worth what I paid ten fold. That's where the real discussion, ideas, and sharing goes on. Some of the most fascinating convos I had were with AOL, Y! and Google employees, and getting a sense of what it's like to work for a large influential company like that.
Also, with all the open bars, when you really think about it, SXSW is a steal! I will absolutely be attending next year, as it really is the 'web geeks spring break'
Funny moments:
Rendezvous was a blast. I have never seen 40+ people on it at once. I actually was talking to Hesam Penahi on rendezvous, and he, seriously, was sitting literally right next to me. He's like where are you sitting? I tell him the front row, he looks at me and we crack up.
I attended the best named panel 'How to turn pink into green' about making money with porn online. I was looking at one of the panelists sites when she walked up next to me and was like oh hey you are looking at my photos. It is kind of surreal to be looking at somebody naked on your computer while they are standing right next to you. The pink hair doesn't hurt either.
I'm actually quite disappointed I missed Jeremys late night fixed vs fluid debate, but I had my own equivalent where we debated the proper name for javascripts in your toolbar. I will always stand by bookmarklets. It was fantastic to be around so many like minded people where drinking leads to heated technological battles.
So quick lessons for next year:
- Hampton is the place to stay
- Drink more water during the day
- Have business cards
- Stay for the MUSIC FEST (I'm missing so many bands right now it hurts)
I was way too busy having fun to take many pics but a few came out good. They are up on Poke. I will also mention Richar Rutter's recollections of SXSW as I am to lazy to do a full recap. Lawver's SXSW Wiki is also a good spot.

Hey Taylor. Great meeting you & I'm glad to hear you'll be going again next year. I'll definitely be there, and second all your comments.
Well, except for that bookmarklet nonsense ;)
