On The Rim

Scenario: You are at a house with a lot of people. Not like a crazy house party, but a certainly a gathering. You walk into the person's bathroom needing to urinate. There is already urine or hair or something on the rim. This is fine because you are a male and stand up anyway. You go. You know there is somebody (maybe female) waiting to go after you. Do you wipe the rim off even though it wasn't your fault? Does it disturb you that she might think its you? Why is it now your responsibility? Do you even care?

Yes, these are the questions that haunt me in the night.

Most definetly wipe, cause the next person will think its you!

Ah, what a dilemma. I think I'd go for the wiping, in the end... Or say something like "yuck" whilst coming out of the bathroom.

I'd definitely just wipe so that others don't suffer from the same unpleasantness. Do onto others or something like that, right?

If it is a girl, wipe. If it is a guy, dont. Or maybe ? Usually I expect and think that people think of me not as somebody who leaves his hair/stuff behind on the rim. But I guess that is just my ego protecting me do the cleaning :)

You should read Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim by David Sedaris. In one of the stories, I think it's 'A Can of Worms,' he tries to answer virtually the same question...

Who cares? It only takes 10 seconds to clean it anyway, plus you save yourself any possible embarrassment or long explanations, which no one wishes to hear. *Shrugs*

Mind you I'd always be prepared to blame on someone else, like Chirag suggested. :D

Yeah yeah yeah. I usually wipe it too. I guess I am just slightly bitter that I have to clean up urine after somebody else when we are supposedly adults.

i'd wipe it, just because explaining to the next person that it wasn't you is sorta.. awkward.
