Version 5

Version Five up and at 'em. Whenever Aug/Sept comes around I am reminded why I only redesign once a year. It is a major pain in the ass. But I am happy and content and warm and fuzzy now.

Just like the launch of version 4 last September, I have no doubt in my mind people will say they liked the old one better. Either I am getting worse every year or it will just take some time to get used to the new look n feel. I kept the pink, ditched the black and picked up a nice complimenting brown. I amuse myself with the fact that I have gone from a 2 column to a 3 column and back down to a 1 column layout.

I encourage you to check out the About page, and the rest of the remodeled stuff hanging around here. Most everything validates, and while I do have a bit more work to do on the back end I wanted to get this up to keep my sanity. Try resizing the text in your browser and lie in awe of the power that is em's.

The other unfortunate part about redesigning every aug/sept is the direct negative correlation in blog entries. Fortunately, I have been holding in a lot so I am ready to let my fingers type something besides CSS and XHTML again.

Now if you will excuse me, there is a $5 lunch special on Kim Cho Pork I have to take advantage of.

ps. This is my 600th entry ever. w00t.

wow... your new design remembered my comment info, that's a plus. I'm feeling it. I like it // of course, I'm all about simplicity and minimalism, so this is tops. If there's anything I don't like it's that I feel more squished over to the left then before, but that's it. If ever you host a Taylor Design Seminar, I'd pay to go.

i agree with cory, simplicity is better. and, i'd pay to attend the 1st annual TDS.

Which reminds me, now that i'm back online on a semi-not-so-infrequent basis, I need to look into redesigning. So much for "a new design each month.." i've had the current one up since March, i think :-/

Taylor recently released gtmcknight.com v5.0. His new design has seriously inspired me to continue on with my current attempt at redesigning l-l.net. I now know that computers on campus have Photoshop CS, which is a definite plus.. I'll have to... Read more in GTMcKnight v5.0 »

just saw version 5 and its amazing taylor... its a complete re-invention of your previous styles with a modern metropolitan feel. the subtleties you put into these designs make me wish i had your patience and attention to detail (those link entries with their hover and visited states is a nice touch). seriously, great job! don't listen to any naysayers! :P

I kinda agree with the others, simplicity just rocks (nowadays). Although the font is a bit huge for me, it is really really nice. pink and brown, ok, well, haven't seen that one yet, but it fits; a nice evolution of v4. Well done, Taylor. Now if only feedburner would work for me (newsgator 2.0.3.3) (the old feed url is not redirected and the feedburner one is spitting errors my way :( )
The hover on the titles is awesomely cool, but míght be a bit too advanced for regular users.

Somehow I think that putting "about" as the first link on the top navi is a real innovation, seriously.
