Your Own Project 365

2007 is just around the corner and now is the perfect time to decide that you want to do your own Project 365. I won't regurgitate everything I've already written on Photojojo but I will mention a few things I've been getting emails about.

It's hard but it's worth it! That said, I'm glad my second 365 is coming to a close. Just like after my first Project 365, I'm going to take 2007 off. Hey atleast I completed mine, looks like Matt Haughey's Ten Years Of My Life was a bust (though that goal was ridiculously hard).

A lot of people have been asking about how I get the Calendar View in the original, MovableType powered one. First let me tell you that in my smarter, 2006 self I chose to simply go with Flickr which automatically generates calendar views and thumbnails for you. Trust me, go with Flickr. You get more of a community and WAY less work (i.e. you won't give up so quickly).

But who am I to stop you from doing it the difficult way? Here we go:

Well I originally got this template from Mark Pilgrim but since he gave up on MovableType you can't find it on his site anymore. You'll obviously have to change the top/bottom includes, but here's my slightly modified calendar template for Movable Type (.txt) that will give you a jumpstart. What I did in 2004, was manually create one main image called 01-01.jpg and one thumbnail image called _01-01.jpg. Then you can sift through my CSS to find all the stuff called large-calendar. Good luck, heh.

Update: I forgot to mention, if you are doing it on Flickr, you should join the Project 365 Flickr Group for support and ideas to keep you going.
